Ryhope Railway Inn got revenge on Wear United from the 6-0 drubbing in preseason with a deserved victory

The first half ended 0-0 with the majority of efforts from distance and a few good saves by both keepers

Within 50 seconds of the restart though Ryhope took the lead when a back pass wasn't controlled well by United keeper Andrew Sheekey who then slipped and allowed the striker to put the ball into an empty net

United drew level on 59 minutes when Jonny Bayat played Chris Brown in down the right. He controlled it well, took a touch and then powered it into the net

Ryhope regained the lead on 69 minutes. A cross to the back post was beautifully controlled and then placed into the net.

Ryhope got a 2 goal lead on 77 minutes. Another United mistake gifting them a third goal

Andrew Sheekey made up for his earlier mistake by saving a penalty in the 85 minute to deny Ryhope's player a hattrick and United pulled it back to 3-2 in the 90th minute when a Chris Madden corner was met with a bullet header from substitute Andrew Hodgson going in of the underside of the bar but it was too little too late
