Martin Brunker tries to wrestle possession away from Duignan

Also on the up with two wins out of two in 2013 are Old Alts who won 1-0 away at Mary Dendy with the quickest goal of the dayby striker Andy Cullen after only forty one seconds . After a scrappy first half with neither goalkeeper forced to make a save of note the game came to life after Dendy centre half Nick Brunker received a second yellow from referee Ian Battersby. The game became niggly with players from both sides receiving cautions and Paul Cooke received a straight red for ill timed words to Battersby. The game itself opened up and chances were created Dean Duignan , Mike Pascall, Simon Ashe and Simon Sidderley impressed for Alts whilst keeper Rob Richards saved Alts blushes twice denying the unluckyKyle Pirrie when he was clean through . Striker Paul Richardson and returning midfield talisman Simon Lee who came on as a second half substitute drove Dendy forwardbut it wasn’t enough as Dendyfailed to convert and grab an equaliser which their possession undoubtedlywarranted.

Dave Vickers report:

An unlucky Dendy lost to the only goal of the game conceded in the first few minutes. Dendy can count themselves unlucky not to get something out of this mid table battle. The two sides were pretty evenly matched in open play but it was Dendy who should have taken the better chances they had. Two red cards and a few yellow cards spoiled the game given by an ...over zealous ref. The plus side Dendy had a much stronger side to call on and the defence protected the keeper well for most of the game. On another day Dendy would have scored from their chances. There is a glimmer of a decent side there if they can get players out every week and get used to playing with each other.
