For goal mouth action the place to be  was Mary Dendy Fields where High Lane edged a nine goal epic 5-4 against Mary Dendy.

James Williamson , one of the players of the season for High Lane

The game started with the visitors forcing a fine diving save from 48 year old Dendy keeper Chris Shepherd but it was Dendy who opened the scoring with a glorious strike from full back Gareth Worrall who ventured up field for a Paul Richardson  corner un noticed  and ended up crashing a superb volley back across goal and through the person standing guarding the post. Dendy’s lead didn’t last long , barely ten minutes infact as referee Derek Scott  spotted pushing in the area and had no hesitiation pointing to the spot. Dave Wilde stepped up ,and sent Shepherd the wrong way to level the match. Two goals in two minutes ten minutes before half time ensured the entertainment hadn’t dried up . First Adam Jarrad headed home James Williamson’s corner to give the visitors the lead but barely sixty seconds later Dendy were level as Martin Brunker poked home a loose ball in the area. On 56 minutes Jake Getcheffsky made it 3-2  heading home Simon Birch’s long throw after it was flicked on by Dave Wilde at the near post and barely ten minutes later it was 4-2 as Adam Jarrad wriggled clear of his marker turned and curled a delightful  shot into the top right hand corner . It was a spectacular effort but more was to follow as Dendy came back again , Paul Richardson volleying home past Jason Rathmill after the ball fell to home following a Matty Martin free kick. With thirteen minutes remaining Simon Birch secured the points for the visitors with another header but there was still time for Martin Brunker to make it 5-4 as his shot from ten yards with the outside of his right foot left Rathmill rooted to the spot as the ball flew into the net.
