Mary Dendy’s unbeaten run in theleague came to end with a bump at Great Warford as they went down 5-0 to league leaders FC Flyers. It was an impressive team performance by the visitors who’s victory never looked in doubt after Scott McGowangave them thelead on seventeen minutes.

Ben Mellor looked to have made it 2-0 seven minutes later from an identical position but a last minute slide by Adam Taylor saw the ball cleared off the line and eventuallyto safety. It was one way traffic as Flyers poured forward in waves.Ash Thomas , Stuart Maylett and Ben Mellor were outstanding in the middle of the park with Danny Seatree the enforcer . Anthony Hampson’s distribution from right back was the best ive seen for many seasons as he consistently picked out his team mateswith afabulous display of long passingandDanny Cooke and captain Scott McGowan tookit in turns to run at Dendy’s defence.

Cooke made it 2-0 two minutes before half time but mention must be made of the homeside’s back four and goalkeeper Matt Robinsonwho soakedup tremendous pressure throughout the match and can be proud of themselves for keeping the score down to a respectable level indeed centre half and the oldest player on the pitch 48year oldChris Shepherdbelied his yearsand was rightfully awarded man of the match

The second half saw more goals form the visitors with Ray Beer making it 3-0 after a really soft header squirmed pastRobinson at his near post and three minutes later Stuart Maylett made it 4-0 rising high to meet a superb crossfield pass from Anthony Hampson and head home . Maylett got his second from a McGowan corneron sixty three minutes to make it 5-0 but that was the end of the scoring as Dendy closed ranksand protected their pride which rightfully remained intact when referee Stuart Parks blew for the end of the match.
