Shooting Staines FC 0 – 6 Maidenhead Crown FC / Division Three Sunday Morning Thames Valley Football League

It was nice to finally be back to league action after a few weeks of non-stop cup action.

A tricky trip to bottom of the table Shooting Staines was the challenge and it was important to win to make sure we don’t fall behind in the league.

We fielded one of the strongest sides we could possibly have, and that showed by how superior we were throughout the entire 90 mnts.

From the first whistle we pressed them back and within a couple of mnts we created our first great opening, only for the ball to be blazed over the bar.

After 5 mnts we scored our first goal, a lovely through ball by DAVID BUTLER to find MATTHEW HILLIER who shot first time past the helpless keeper.

We continued to create chance after chance and finally on the 35 mnts a great ball across the box resulted in STEVEN EATON scoring with a well-placed finish.

Score at half time 0 – 2 .

We stared the second half at exactly the same pace and within 5 mnts MATHEW HILLIER scored with a fantastic finish.

On the hour mark JAMES MURDOCH scored with what was also a good move.

By now we were totally dominating the game and it was a matter of when, not if we would score again.

On the 70 mnt, DAVID BUTLER marked his return to the team after injury when he scored with a low shot to make it 0 – 5.

The game was rounded of when man of the match MATTHEW HILLIER scored his 3rd to make the score 0 – 6.

SAM BROWNE came off the bench to miss a penalty and also strike a lot shot against the post but it wasn’t to be and the game ended at a comfortable 0 – 6.

What was very pleasing is that the goalie did not have a save to make, a superb defensive performance by all the lads.

By far the best performance from everyone in the team, may it continue.

We are back to playing in the cup this Sunday, this time we are in BERKS & BUCKS action when we travel to SUNNINGDALE & WENTWORTH for our round 3 match.
