A game of two halves. The first 30 mins consisted mainly of  Flint on the attack.

Plenty of good football and attacking, shot after shot, corner after corner but Flint failed to score. The half ended in frustration and disbelief that we had not managed one goal with all the possession we had.

The second half was a totally different game from the off with Shotton scoring early on with a breaking ball and finishing well. Flint heads dropped, players began to lack discipline in the positions they where playing and the football became messy from the Flint side. Eventually players switched back on and some started to play some good football resulting in an equaliser. The ball was switched to the left wing (Travis) and delivered in with some venom. Conner was on the end of the pass netting the equaliser. Flint began to believe in themselves and continued to play some good football creating plenty of opportunities to score on a number of occasions. The 53 rd minute and Shotton were on the attack, a poorly cleared ball handed them an opportunity to shoot, no one closing down the opportunity resulted in a well taken shot hitting the back of the net. 2 -1 to Shotton, game over.

Chances missed, opportunities not taken, players not focused on their roles. Winning games is all well and good but maintaining it is harder, attitudes have to be right before the game, positions have to be kept and team-work is key to creating opportunities that must be taken. Most had a good game, let’s hope we all take the positives away and learn from the negatives. It won’t be the last time you get beaten but to secure wins weeks after week, players must be focused and not complacent.
