The SBYFL is affiliated with the Northern Ireland Boys' Football Association (NIBFA). It is one of the largest youth football leagues in Northern Ireland and is a popular choice for players and coaches alike.
The SBYFL was founded in 1969 by a group of local football enthusiasts. The league initially had 45 teams in three age groups. Since then, the league has grown significantly and now has over 140 teams competing in six age groups.
The SBYFL has hosted a number of prestigious tournaments over the years, including the SBYFL Cup and the SBYFL Shield. The league has also produced a number of talented players who have gone on to play professional football, including David Healy, Keith Gillespie, and Steven Davis.
The SBYFL is divided into two divisions: the Premier Division and the First Division. The Premier Division is the top flight of the league and is made up of the strongest teams. The First Division is the second tier of the league and is made up of the teams that did not qualify for the Premier Division.
The league season runs from September to May. Each team plays each other team in their division twice, once at home and once away. The top teams in each division at the end of the season are promoted to the next division, while the bottom teams are relegated to the lower division.
