About the South Belfast Youth League

The South Belfast Youth Football League (SBYFL) is an amateur football league for young people in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It was established in 1969 and currently has over 140 teams participating in six age groups from U12 to U18.

The SBYFL is affiliated with the Northern Ireland Boys' Football Association (NIBFA) and follows its rules and regulations. The league is divided into two divisions, Premier and First, with promotion and relegation between the two divisions at the end of each season.

The SBYFL season runs from September to May, with each team playing each other team in their division twice, once at home and once away. The top two teams in each division at the end of the season are promoted, while the bottom two teams are relegated.

The SBYFL also organizes a number of cup competitions, including the SBYFL Cup, the SBYFL Shield, and the SBYFL Challenge Cup. The SBYFL Cup is the most prestigious cup competition in the league and is contested by all teams in the Premier Division.

The SBYFL is a popular league with a strong following. The league's games are played at a variety of venues in Belfast, including the Cliftonville Academy, the Lisburn Distillery Stadium, and the Ballyclare Comrades Stadium.
