History

The league was founded in 1921 by a group of local football enthusiasts. The first season saw 10 teams compete, and the league has grown steadily ever since. In 1995, the league was sponsored by Sills & Betteridge, and the current sponsorship agreement runs until 2025.

Structure

The league consists of 3 divisions: Premier, Division 1, and Division 2. Each division plays a double round-robin format, with each team playing each other team twice. The top two teams in each division at the end of the season are promoted to the next division, and the bottom two teams are relegated to the next division.

Cup competitions

The league also runs a number of cup competitions, including the Jock Mitchell Memorial Trophy, the Kelly Read Cup, and the Ron Eaglen Challenge Cup. These competitions are open to all teams in the league.

Recent seasons

The 2022-23 season was won by AFC Saxilby in the Premier Division, with Hykeham Town TRFC (Sunday) winning Division 1 and Welton Sports & Social FC winning Division 2.
