Serie 2

Serie 2 is the second tier of the Dutch football league system, below the Eerste Divisie and above the Tweede Divisie. It is a nationwide league consisting of 20 teams.

The league was founded in 1956 as the Tweede Klasse, and was renamed to Serie 2 in 1971. The current champions are FC Volendam.

Promotion and relegation

The top two teams in Serie 2 are promoted to the Eerste Divisie, while the bottom two teams are relegated to the Tweede Divisie.

There is also a promotion/relegation play-off between the 16th-placed team in the Eerste Divisie and the 3rd-placed team in Serie 2.
