About EMJFL

East Manchester Junior Football League

The East Manchester Junior Football League (EMJFL) is an amateur football league for children and young people in East Manchester, England. It was founded in 1972 and currently has over 150 clubs, 1134 teams, 13500 players and 300 referees.

History

The EMJFL was founded in 1972 by a group of local football enthusiasts. The league started with just a few teams, but it has grown steadily over the years. In 2006, the EMJFL became a Charter Standard League, which is the highest level of accreditation for amateur football leagues in England.

Structure

The EMJFL is divided into age groups from Under-7s to Under-18s. There are also separate divisions for boys and girls. The teams play each other in a round-robin format, and the top teams at the end of the season qualify for the playoffs.

Cup competitions

The EMJFL also runs a number of cup competitions, including the Challenge Cup, the League Cup and the Floodlit Cup. The cup competitions are open to all teams in the league, and they provide an opportunity for teams to win silverware.
