The EMJFL was founded in 1972 by a group of local football enthusiasts. The league started with just 10 teams, but it has grown steadily over the years and now has over 300 teams.
The EMJFL is a member of the Lancashire Junior Football League (LJFL) and the Football Association (FA). The league's teams compete in a variety of age groups, from Under-7s to Under-18s.
