U10s Whites Match Report ??
??? Date: Sunday 15th March
?? Opponents: Richmond Rovers All Stars
?? Result: 1–2
?? Competition: Champions Cup Match
This was a very strong performance from the boys today and arguably one of the best performances we’ve produced as a team so far this season. Although the result didn’t quite go our way, the quality of football, effort, and teamwork shown by the lads was excellent. The boys should be very proud of the way they played and competed throughout the game.
In Possession
From the very start of the match, the boys were excellent on the ball. We began the game with great energy and confidence, putting the opposition under pressure and creating chances early on. The team played some fantastic football, with several well-worked passing moves that helped us move the ball from defence into attack.
It was great to see the boys continuing to improve week by week with their passing and movement. The way they supported each other on the pitch and looked to play quick combinations really helped us build attacks and get into dangerous positions.
We created a huge number of chances throughout the game, and on another day we easily could have scored four or five more goals. Their defenders managed to clear one off the line and their goalkeeper made several excellent saves to deny us. Even though the goals didn’t quite come, the attacking play and creativity from the boys were very impressive and something we are really pleased to see.
Out of Possession
Without the ball, the boys were much better right from the start. They pressed quickly and worked hard to keep the opposition pinned in their own half for long periods of the game. The energy and effort shown by everyone when trying to win the ball back was excellent.
During the first half we noticed that we were occasionally getting caught out by balls played in behind our defence. At half-time we spoke with the boys about making sure we stayed goal-side of our players and remained touch-tight when defending. The response from the team was brilliant, as they applied this really well in the second half and looked much more solid and organised defensively.
The aggression, intensity, and teamwork in the press were also much improved today. The boys worked hard all over the pitch to win the ball back quickly, which made it difficult for the opposition to settle into the game. It was really positive to see this level of effort and determination from the whole team.
? Players of the Match – Seth & Billy
Seth was outstanding today. His work rate both in possession and out of possession was excellent. He pressed defenders well, worked hard to recover the ball, and caused the opposition lots of problems throughout the game. In attacking situations he was brilliant in 1v1 scenarios, beating players and creating goal-scoring opportunities. Although he was unlucky not to score earlier in the match, he fully deserved his goal and it was a fantastic free kick.
Billy also had a superb performance. He was strong and aggressive in his tackles and did really well to win the ball back for the team on numerous occasions. When attacking, he showed great confidence driving forward and getting into dangerous areas. Defensively, he worked incredibly hard to recover and maintain the team’s shape, cutting out several important through balls that could have caused problems. He also had a really impressive spell in midfield where he worked tirelessly up and down the pitch and gave the team everything we needed from him.
?? Goal: Seth
?? Assist: N/A
Me and Tom were absolutely delighted with the boys’ performance today. Even though the result shows a defeat, the way the boys played, worked for each other, and followed the game plan made it feel like a very positive outcome. Performances like this show how much the team is developing and improving each week.
Well done to all the lads — a brilliant team effort.
See you all at training on Tuesday.
Thanks,
Jayden and Tom ??
