This was to be a hard game for St Michaels against a team that were currently second in the league. In fact it turned out to be an excellent hard fought victory for St Michaels with both keepers being in tremendous form and frustrating the forwards with a string of good saves.

St Michaels started strongly with Adam Fahy having a few good shots in the first 10 minutes. Good efforts at goal in the first half also from Ben Baptiste and Arran Amer.

All of the team were playing well against an extremely quick and skilful Athletico side.

The second half started the same as the first with good efforts from Adam, Arran and Danny Baptiste. Athletico however then had three good efforts in a couple of minutes that were brilliantly saved by Ozzie in goal for St Michaels. Play went from end to end and Ozzie on two further occasions made match winning saves with one in particular being a brilliant tip onto the bar.

With the match still being played at a furious pace and with 3 minutes to go, Connor Reardon played a ball through the middle to Adam Fahy who took it under control and calmly slotted the ball past the Athletico keeper. The final couple of minutes were as fast as the previous with both sides trying to score but St Michaels held on for a very good victory which moves them within striking distance of the top.

Whilst it was an excellent team performance with every one playing their part, special mention is given to Lewis Butcher who had a very steady game making few, if any mistakes. For his performance he was adjudged to be the “Man of the Match”.
