Newark Flowserve 2 – 1 Wheatsheaf Utd Res

Flowserve moved up to second place in the first division with this hard fought win at Lowfields on Sunday.

Ollie Gee put us ahead after only two minutes but otherwise it was an evenly contested first half with both sides creating few chances.

Wheatsheaf started brightly after the break and forced a deserved equaliser after seventy minutes through Dan Huson.

We then started to apply more pressure on our opponents and only a brilliant save from keeper Sam Puttergill kept the scores level.

With time running out Gee popped up to nod in the winner from close range and put us into a promotion position for the first time this season.

Again, we let a team get back into a game that we could have won with ease.

Like the Collingham cup game, we scored early on but then took our collective foot off the gas. For long periods of the game Wheatsheaf looked like the better side.

We keep going on about this but it still needs putting right;

We need to keep the tempo of the game up and dicate the play ourselves, instead of just reacting to what the other side does.

We need you to all keep talking and encouraging throughout the match.

We need you all to take responsibility for different situations;eg. if you see a player not being marked either pick him up yourself or shout someone back.

If there was one lad who did all of the above this week it was Lewis Poole and that is why Wheatsheaf correctly named him as our man of the match.
