An inspired substitution by Dendy manager Paul Cronshaw to bring on Josh Wilkinson with ten minutes remaining  ultimately proved to be the difference between these two sides in what was a very  evenly contested game at Mary Dendy Fields . It started terribly for the visitors who gave away possession from the kick off and conceded inside 20 seconds to a clinical finish from Paul Richardson and it  got worse on twelve minutes as Dendy doubled their lead. Ex Crawley Town keeper Leigh Waterman sprinted  outside his area in an attempt to clear a  ball he was never likely to win and  was beaten to the kick by Chris Scarle who floated the ball into an unguarded net.

Sam Marshall makes it 2-2 from the penalty spot

Poynton might have crumbled but they have a real team spirit and were back in the game just before half time as Dan Faulkner beat Ryan Fallon from distance to make it 2-1. The impressive Sam Marshall converted a penalty ten minutes into the second half to tie the match and the game looked to be heading for a draw  before the ball fell to substitute Josh Wilkinson seven yards out and he hooked the ball into the top corner to give Dendy all three points.
