Heddon march on!

Heddon booked their place in the semi-final of the cup with a disciplined 4-1 victory over Ryton.

Goals from Mark Murtagh, Sean Hownam and a brace from Dan Walker secured the victory for a Heddon side missing a number of key players.

Ryton brought their bullish style of play to Selman park and could of took the lead after a number of corners however David Wadds dealt with the crosses and made a fantastic save from a Ryton free kick.

Neat link up play between Dan Walker and Mark Murtagh lead to the first goal as man of the match Mark Murtagh smashed home to make it 1-0.

1-0 quickly became 2-0 after a pin point cross from Dan Ramshaw was met by Dan Walker who lost his marker to head home.

Heddon took a 2-0 lead into the break and new the first ten minutes of second half were going to be crucial.

It was Ryton that grabbed the next goal to make it 2-1 and it came from a Heddon corner! A quick counter attack which left Heddon manager Dave Green pulling his hair out. MANAGERS EDIT - SHORT CORNERS ARE BANNED

A nervy ten minutes followed as the visitors applied some pressure to the Heddon side but the game was put to bed after a Dan Walker cross was converted by Sean Hownam at the second time of asking. 3-1.

Dan Walker grabbed Heddons 4th and his 30th of the season in impressive fashion with strike that left the keeper stranded which was justice for Walker who had been hot dogged by the keeper earlier in the half.

Stand out performers of the day were Mark Murtagh, Scoob who even with a busy schedule rumour has it he had three children's birthdays on Sunday, skipper Dan Ramshaw and finally Ciaran Porter.

A solid performance followed by a solid afternoon on the drink. Imagine if we actually win the thing!!!
