Crawley Panthers under 9’s Blue sponsored by Erith and Southern Railway

entertained Cuckfield Cosmos and although coming coming away
worthy winners of both games, were made to work very hard for
the 6 points. Madge (four goals) and Louie (two goals) were the
main difference between the teams and jointly stole the show in
a 6 –0 first game victory.

The second game saw Panthers raise the tempo and quickly take the lead within 40 seconds with the first of Madge’s next four goals. Harrison added a fifth to compliment his hat trick last week before Louie added our sixth. Final score 6 – 0

The midfield engine room of Owen, Macker, and Oliver (02) alongside Harrison provided fantastic support in both games for the attackers and lone defender Benno who, mopped up virtually every Cuckfield attack. On the few occasions when outnumbered in defence, Jamie produced some fine saves to ensure another clean sheet for Panthers.

It was pleasing for all to see that the solid defending, good flowing football and crisp passing which had been missing over the last few weeks returned with such devastating effect. Fingers crossed that the mid season mini blip which resulted in Panthers playing some uncharacteristic awful football coupled with bad luck has now passed and the team can move forward and build on this result.

Over the past few weeks Madge has been with Crawley Town and we have really missed his drive, skill and goals. Also, (and in conjunction with the start of the blip), Louie had a nasty accident which affected his confidence greatly. Today’s game saw the return of the old Louie which was extremely pleasing for everyone connected with the team and club.

The team would also like to welcome Ollie B (02) to the team and wish him all the best for the rest of the season.

Man of the match went to Louie for regaining confidence after overcoming a serious injury.

Did you know that this and the Lindfield game were the only ones so far this season where we had a substitute? All the others involved just 7 players not including the Worthing game where we had the magnificent 6!!!
