The Useless Bastard League was founded in 1977 by a group of friends who were tired of the seriousness of other leagues. The league was originally called the "Sunday Morning League", but it was renamed the "Useless Bastard League" in 1980.

The league has grown steadily over the years and now has over 50 teams. The teams are divided into three divisions: the Premier Division, the First Division, and the Second Division.
