Traquinas was founded in 1976 by a group of friends who wanted to create a football league for amateur players. The league quickly grew in popularity and now has over 300 teams competing in a variety of divisions.

Traquinas has produced a number of talented players over the years, including former Portugal internationals Luís Figo and Rui Costa. The league is also known for its strong community spirit and its commitment to developing young players.
