The St Helens and Rainhill Junior Alliance League (SJRL) is an amateur football league based in St Helens, Merseyside, England. It is affiliated with the Liverpool FA and offers many opportunities for junior grassroots football.
The SJRL was founded in 1970 and currently covers age groups from the Under 7s to Under 17s. There are over 130 teams in the league, from a wide area to enjoy football.
The SJRL was founded in 1970 by a group of local football enthusiasts. The league initially consisted of just a few teams, but it has grown steadily over the years.
In 1998, the SJRL became affiliated with the Liverpool FA. This affiliation has allowed the league to offer a higher level of competition and development opportunities for its players.
The SJRL is divided into a number of divisions, based on the age of the players. The top division is the Premier Division, followed by the First Division, Second Division, and so on.
The league also has a number of cup competitions, including the Challenge Cup, League Cup, and Floodlit Cup.
The 2023-2024 season is currently underway. The Premier Division is currently being led by St Helens Town Juniors, followed by Thatto Heath Crusaders Juniors and Haydock Juniors.
The Challenge Cup is currently being contested by Rainhill Town Juniors and St Helens Town Juniors. The League Cup is currently being contested by Haydock Juniors and Thatto Heath Crusaders Juniors.
