History

The Peterlee & District Sunday League was founded in 1970 by a group of local football enthusiasts. The league initially consisted of just 6 teams, but it has since grown to become one of the largest amateur football leagues in County Durham.

The league has been won by a number of different teams over the years, including Roseberry Park FC, Horden JDB Wanderers, and East Durham Community. The current champions are Roseberry Park FC, who won the Premier Division title in the 2022-23 season.
