History

The Medway Messenger Sunday Football League was founded in 1973 by a group of local football enthusiasts. The league initially had just four divisions, but it has since grown to include 11 divisions.

The league is named after the Medway Messenger, a local newspaper that has been covering the league since its inception. The newspaper provides regular coverage of the league, including match reports, league tables, and player profiles.

Divisions

The Medway Messenger Sunday Football League currently has 11 divisions:

• Division One
• Division Two
• Division Three
• Division Four
• Division Five
• Division Six
• Division Seven
• Division Eight
• Division Nine
• Division 10
• Division 11
• Reserve Division

The top two teams in each division are promoted to the next division, while the bottom two teams are relegated to the previous division.

Cup competitions

The Medway Messenger Sunday Football League also organizes a number of cup competitions, including:

• The Medway Messenger Plate
• The Medway Messenger Shield
• The Medway Messenger Trophy

The winners of these cup competitions qualify for the Kent Sunday League Cup competition.
