The Liverpool Old Boys Amateur Football League (LOABL) is an amateur football league based in Liverpool, England. It was founded in 1920 and currently has over 50 teams competing in four divisions.

History

The LOABL was founded in 1920 by a group of former Liverpool FC players. The original intention was to provide a competitive environment for players who had retired from professional football. However, the league has since grown to include players of all ages and abilities.

The LOABL has been home to some notable players over the years, including former Liverpool FC stars Billy Liddell, Ronnie Moran, and Ian Rush. The league has also produced a number of professional footballers, including Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher, and Robbie Fowler.

Current Structure

The LOABL currently has four divisions: Premier Division, Championship, League One, and League Two. The Premier Division is the top division and is contested by the best teams in the league. The Championship is the second division, followed by League One and League Two.

The season runs from September to May, with each team playing each other team in their division home and away. The top two teams in each division are promoted to the next division, while the bottom two teams are relegated to the next lower division.

Cup Competitions

The LOABL also runs a number of cup competitions, including the Bill Hughes Senior Shield, the Bushell Cup, the Connerty Cup, the Marlborough Trophy, and the Alan Brown Trophy. The Bill Hughes Senior Shield is the most prestigious cup competition in the league.

The LOABL also runs a veterans' league for players over the age of 35. The veterans' league has three divisions: Premier Division, Championship, and League One.
