The league consists of 12 divisions, with each division having 10 teams. The top two teams in each division at the end of the season are promoted to the next division, while the bottom two teams are relegated to the next division.
The league has a cup competition, the Liverpool Business Houses Cup, which is open to all teams in the league. The cup was first played in 1905 and is currently in its 118th season.
