The Leicester Sunday Football League is an amateur football league based in Leicester, England. It was founded in 1921 and currently consists of 11 divisions, with over 200 teams competing. The league is affiliated to the Leicestershire FA.

History

The Leicester Sunday Football League was founded in 1921 by a group of local football enthusiasts. The league initially consisted of just four divisions, but it has grown steadily over the years and now has over 200 teams competing.

The league has produced a number of professional footballers over the years, including Gary Lineker, who played for the league's FC Britannia team in the early 1970s.

Structure

The Leicester Sunday Football League consists of 11 divisions, each of which is divided into two groups. The top teams in each division at the end of the season are promoted to the next division, while the bottom teams are relegated to the lower division.

The league also has a cup competition, the Leicester Sunday Senior Cup, which is competed for by all the teams in the league.

Current Season

The current season of the Leicester Sunday Football League began in September 2022 and is scheduled to end in April 2023. The current champions are FC Britannia, who won the league for the 10th time in their history.
