Ipswich Town FC - Academy

Ipswich Town FC Academy is the youth development system of Ipswich Town Football Club. It is responsible for identifying, developing and nurturing young players in the hope of them progressing to the first team.

History

The academy was founded in 1996 and has since produced a number of players who have gone on to play for the first team, including James Norwood, Alan Judge and Tyrone Mings.

The academy is currently run by Bryan Klug, who has been in the role since 2014. Klug is a former professional footballer who played for Ipswich Town and other clubs.

Structure

The academy is divided into three age groups: Under-9s, Under-11s and Under-13s. There is also an Elite Player Development Centre (EPDC) for the most talented players aged 14-16.

The academy teams play in a variety of competitions, including the FA Youth Cup and the Professional Development League.

Recent Successes

The academy has enjoyed some recent success, with the Under-18s winning the FA Youth Cup in 2018. The Under-23s also won the Professional Development League in 2022.

Several academy graduates have also made their first-team debuts in recent years, including Cameron Humphreys, Tyreece Simpson and Armando Dobra.
