Introduction

The Hunter Football League is an amateur football league in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, Australia. It was founded in 1972 and currently has 12 clubs.

The league plays in a winter season, from April to September. The competition consists of a regular season followed by a finals series.

The Hunter Football League is affiliated with the New South Wales Amateur Football Association (NSWAFA).

History

The Hunter Football League was founded in 1972 by a group of local football enthusiasts. The inaugural season had six clubs: Cessnock, Kurri Kurri, Maitland, Newcastle, Singleton, and West Wallsend.

The league has grown steadily over the years and now has 12 clubs. The current clubs are:

• East Maitland
• Hamilton Hawks
• Lake Macquarie City
• Maitland Blackbirds
• Newcastle Jets
• Newcastle Workers
• Singleton Lions
• South Maitland
• West Wallsend

Current Season

The 2023 season is the 51st season of the Hunter Football League. The regular season began on April 9 and will conclude on September 10.

The top four teams at the end of the regular season will qualify for the finals series. The finals series will be played in a knock-out format.
