About Gloucestershire FA Ability Counts Youth League

Gloucestershire FA Ability Counts Youth League

The Gloucestershire FA Ability Counts Youth League is a football league for young people with disabilities in Gloucestershire. It was formed in 2022-23 to provide players with an opportunity to play competitive football in a supportive environment.

The league is open to players aged 16 and under with a range of disabilities, including physical, learning and sensory disabilities. Players are divided into teams based on their ability, rather than their age.

The league currently has five teams, based in Gloucester, Cheltenham, Stroud and Cirencester. The teams play each other home and away, with a league cup competition also being held.

Season 2022-23

The 2022-23 season is the first season of the Gloucestershire FA Ability Counts Youth League. The teams are as follows:

  • Cheltenham Ability Counts
  • Gloucester Ability Counts
  • Stroud Ability Counts
  • Cirencester Ability Counts
  • Westbury Ability Counts

The league is currently in its early stages, but it has already been a success. The players have enjoyed the opportunity to play competitive football in a supportive environment, and the standard of play has been high.

Future plans

The Gloucestershire FA Ability Counts Youth League is hoping to grow in the future. The league is currently looking to recruit more teams, and it is also looking to expand into other areas of Gloucestershire.

The league is also hoping to develop links with other disability football leagues in the UK. This would allow players to progress to higher levels of competition, and it would also help to raise the profile of disability football in Gloucestershire.

The Gloucestershire FA Ability Counts Youth League is a great opportunity for young people with disabilities to play football. The league is well-run and supportive, and the standard of play is high. If you have a child with a disability who is interested in football, I would encourage you to get in touch with the league.
