About Exeter and District Youth League
Youth football in Exeter and the district
The Exeter and District Youth League provides grassroots football for young players across Exeter and a wider part of Devon. The current competition covers age groups from Under 7 to Under 16, with clubs from places including Exeter, Crediton, Exmouth, Teignmouth, Axminster and Seaton. Those examples illustrate its broad local reach rather than a fixed boundary.

The league began in 1995 as the Exeter Friendly Competition, initially arranging structured Under-11 friendlies. It became affiliated to The Football Association when mini soccer was introduced in 1999, and later developed competitive older age-group sections.
Age groups and competition
Youngest age groups are arranged in local sections, including east and west groupings at several ages. From Under 12 upwards, the league currently uses divisional football, with multiple divisions at a number of age groups.
The league combines regular league fixtures with cup football. Players and parents looking for a team should contact a nearby member club; managers can use the league’s club directory and competition information for current arrangements.
