The Essex Veterans League was founded in 1993 as a sub-section of the Mid-Essex League. The league initially had just four divisions, but it has since expanded to its current size of nine divisions and five over-45 divisions.
The league has been home to some notable players over the years, including former England internationals Paul Gascoigne and David Platt.
The Essex Veterans League season runs from September to May. The regular season consists of a series of matches played on Saturdays. The top teams in each division qualify for the play-offs, which are held at the end of the season.
The league also runs a cup competition, the Essex Veterans League Cup. The cup is open to all teams in the league, and the final is usually held in May.
