The Derby Taverners Football League is an amateur football league based in Derby, England. It was founded in 1922 and currently consists of 24 teams.

History

The Derby Taverners Football League was founded in 1922 by a group of local pub landlords. The league originally consisted of just 8 teams, but it has grown steadily over the years and now has 24 teams.

The league has been won by a number of different teams over the years, including Derby Rovers, Derby Allstars, and Oakwood FC. The current champions are Derby Allstars, who won the league in 2022-23.

Structure

The Derby Taverners Football League is divided into two divisions, the Premier Division and the Championship. The Premier Division is the top division, and the Championship is the second division.

Each team plays each other twice in a season, once at home and once away. The top two teams in the Premier Division at the end of the season are promoted to the Premier Division, and the bottom two teams are relegated to the Championship. The top two teams in the Championship at the end of the season are promoted to the Premier Division, and the bottom two teams are relegated to the Division 1.

Cup competitions

In addition to the league, the Derby Taverners Football League also runs a number of cup competitions. The most important cup competition is the Bob Ellerington Memorial Trophy, which is contested by all 24 teams in the league.

Other cup competitions run by the league include the Premier Cup, the Championship Cup, and the Division 1 Cup.
