About the Burnage Respect League

The Burnage Respect League is an amateur football league for children aged 7-11 years old in the Manchester area.

The League was founded in 2011 by Paul Kavanagh, who was looking for a more enjoyable and less competitive environment for his son to play football.

The League is based on six principles:

  • We play to learn, not just to win.
  • We don't have 'A' teams.
  • Every child gets equal pitch time.
  • Every child plays in all positions.
  • We don't shout instructions.
  • Children are louder than the adults.

The League has been praised for its innovative approach to children's football. In its first season, it was Commended in The FA's national Respect Awards.

The League currently has over 100 teams playing in four divisions: U7s, U8s, U9s, and U10s.

The League plays its games at a variety of venues in the Manchester area, including Burnage Metro FC, Simons Field, and Platt Lane.
