The Bucs 1a/ Essex And Susses Border League Premier was founded in 1972. The league was originally called the Essex and Suffolk Border Football League, but it was renamed in 2019 to reflect the sponsorship of BUCS.
The league has been won by a variety of clubs over the years. The most successful club is Harwich & Parkeston Town, who have won the title 11 times. Other recent winners include Halstead Town, Clacton Town, and Sudbury Town.
