The Bridgwater & District Sunday Football League was founded in 1922 by a group of local football enthusiasts. The league initially had just four teams, but it has grown steadily over the years and now has over 100 teams competing in its various divisions.
The league has been home to some successful teams over the years, including Bridgwater Town, who won the FA Sunday Cup in 1997. The league has also produced a number of professional footballers, including Dean Windass and Darren Purse.
