Birmingham & District Football League

The Birmingham & District Football League (BAFL) is an amateur association football competition covering the city of Birmingham, England, and the surrounding area, for football teams playing on a Saturday.

The league was founded in 1908 and is one of the oldest football institutions in the UK. It currently has 10 divisions, with over 200 clubs competing.

History

The BAFL was founded in 1908 by a group of local football enthusiasts. The inaugural season saw 12 clubs compete in a single division. The league has grown steadily over the years and now has 10 divisions, with over 200 clubs competing.

The BAFL has been home to some of the best amateur footballers in the country. Former England internationals such as Geoff Hurst, Trevor Brooking, and David Platt all played in the league at some point in their careers.

Current Structure

The BAFL currently has 10 divisions, with each division having between 12 and 16 clubs. The top division is the Premier Division, followed by the First Division, the Second Division, and so on.

The top four teams from the Premier Division are promoted to the West Midlands Regional League at the end of the season. The bottom four teams from the Premier Division are relegated to the First Division.

Cup Competitions

The BAFL also organizes a number of cup competitions, including the Bill Cup, the Holder Cup, the Intermediate Cup, the Jeffs Cup, the Junior Cup, the Minor Cup, the Senior Cup, and the Veterans Cup.

The Bill Cup is the oldest cup competition in the BAFL, dating back to 1908. The Holder Cup is the second oldest cup competition, dating back to 1912.
