u12 Cambridge Youth Soccer Site. Head Coach Marius Pop Marius grew up in Romania - speaking 3 different languages - romanian, hungarian and german. In Romania and all of Europe, football is played everywhere and it is part of everybody's life regardless of ethnicity, age or skill level. At the age of 14 Marius and his family migrated to Kitchener, Canada and he has been involved in soccer as a player in house league, high school, German school (teenagers kicking the ball on Saturday with coach Kaz), KDSL, and later on in life as a house league coach, referee and rep soccer coach (get to coach with coach Charlie 2000 age group also). Marius has 2 sons playing for Cambridge Youth Soccer rep teams. Both Marius Jr and Daniel are great players - they were both born with soccer balls at their feet, and Marius Sr got involved with the 2003 age group after having posivite success assisting at the 2000 boys age group and noticing the need to have 2 soccer squads at this age group in our great city. Marius lives in Cambridge with his wife and 3 children. Marius is a big fan of Germany, Bayern Munchen, Barca and Liverpool FC, however now his 2 favourite soccer clubs are Cambridge boys U15 WOYSL squad, and last but not least: the Cambridge boys U12 target squad. Looking forward to a great season ahead. Assistant Coach, Charlie Vella Charlie was born in Toronto, Ontario and started playing soccer as a 5 year old in Mississauga, Ontario. After showing potential in the game he was asked to play competitive soccer for the Mississauga West soccer club. After a few years playing in Mississauga, he went on to play for a private club in Toronto, Ontario called Melita Soccer Club at the age of 12. He captained the team for 3 years and played in the Ontario Youth Soccer League (OYSL) - top youth soccer league from Ontario in his last year with the team. After that Charlie played with Malton soccer club in Mississauga. Charlie also played high school soccer. Charlie and his wife reside in Cambridge, for the past nine years, where Charlie is the head coach of the U15 Boys WOYSL team for the past 2 seasons. Charlie supports Chelsea FC and cheers for Italy in all big international tournaments. Assistant Coach, Karsten Zimmerman Assistant Coach, Manager, Sharon Verley Sharon has loved the sport since she was small kicking the football on many pitches in the UK. Since moving to Canada as a young girl she contiuned her love for the sport. Sharon played for her highschool and university soccer teams in her late teen and early twenties. Her positions were strong midfield and defense. She has coached her son's house league teams over the years and enjoyed every minute. Her son Ethan started to excel and was recruited for the u8 All Star team. It was very hard for her to stay on the sidelines and be quiet. So she decided to get involved. Most recently she was head coach of the u10C and u11B competitive teams for Kitchener Youth Soccer. She loves Chelsea FC and Arsenal FC. She lives in Cambridge with her husband and son.
