Goose Green Juniors

Goose Green FC is an Sunday League Amatuer Football Team that has been running for 21 years playing in the South Lanashire Counties Football League in the Premier Division. The chairman of the club is Colin Clark who is also the first team manager and has gone from playing for the Green to hanging his boots up and concentrating on the management side of the club. Goose Green FC had consisted of one team up until 2007 when manager Colin Clark took on board a youth team to supplement the first team. Today Goose Green FC consists of a First team, Reserve team who play within the South Lancs Counties Football League and of last year an Under 9s, now under 10s team in the Wigan & Leigh District Youth League run by Ste Banister (Manager) and Mike Price (Coach) This year (2011) will see the addition of a 4th team for the club as Trevor Croston takes on the Greens second Youth team of its existance with an Under 18s team that will come through to again supplemet the first and reserve teams. The first and reserve teams play their matches at the Soccerdome with the under 10s playing on Laithwaite Park and the Under 18s to be confirmed. Past Honours for the club include the prestigious Houghton Memorial Cup which the team won back in 200? The club currently has a 6 man commitee consisting of Colin Clark, Neil Kelly, Trevor Croston, Ste Bannister, John Grady and Mike Price who reguarly meet to discuss the structure and running of the club.
