we are super Furngate vets what a first season it’s been.

Back in May 2025, the idea of starting a vets team came from Peter Harrington, driven by one simple thing — the desperate urge to get back playing football. What started as just an idea quickly became reality, even if the beginning was a little rough around the edges.

At one of our very first training sessions, only four players turned up. Most people might have looked at that and thought it wouldn’t last… but from that small start, we’ve grown into something special.

The early days on the pitch were tough too — results didn’t go our way, and wins felt impossible to come by. But football’s funny like that. With every game, every training session, and every bit of graft, we improved. That losing feeling that followed us around at the start? That’s becoming a thing of the past.

Now we’ve built a strong squad full of quality players, big personalities, and even bigger characters. There’s plenty of football ability in the group, but what makes this team special is the atmosphere around it — the laughs in the changing room, the constant banter, the friendships being built, and that feeling of being part of something bigger than just 90 minutes on a pitch.

Furngate FC has been a fantastic club for many years through the youth setup, then in 2024 launched a senior side, and now in 2025, the vets team joined the journey. It shows the ambition and growth of the club, creating opportunities for players of all ages to enjoy the game.

We’re a team that loves to play football the right way — getting the ball down, passing it, and if we’re honest, we definitely prefer a good 4G pitch.

This is only the beginning for Super Furngate Vets. The foundations are there, the squad is growing, the team spirit is brilliant, and there are plenty more wins, laughs, and memories still to come.
