Dengo United

Dengo United are a Sunday League Football Club based in the Croxteth area of Liverpool. We were established in 1968 and have been a member of the Liverpool & District Sunday League for the duration. The team name existed as an inter-departmental team which played in the annual football competition in the now defunct Automatic Telephone and Electric Company. The name was created as an anagram of D for Drawing Office and ENG for ENGineering Office with United bringing the two together. The following is a resume of the clubs history: First participated in Division 6 of the Liverpool & District Sunday Football League in season 1968-69 taking over from a team called ATE Apprentices. At the time the L&DSFL comprised 11 divisions and a youth league. Team underperformed and struggled and was relegated to Div 7 in 1968-69 Div 8 in 1969-70 Div 9 in 1970-71 Div 10 in 1971-72 Div 11 in 1972-73 In season 1973-74 the team whilst retaining the name had an influx of young players from a Lobster youth side and things improved dramatically. CHAMPIONS Div 11 1973-74 Promoted to Div 10 RUNNERS-UP Div 10 1974-75 Promoted pro-rata to Div 6 CHAMPIONS Div 6 1975-76 Promoted to Div 5 CHAMPIONS Div 5 1976-77 Promoted to Div 4 4th in Div 4 1978-79 Promoted pro-rata to Div 3 4th in Div 3 1979-80 Promoted pro-rata to Div 2 Static in Div 2 until 1986-87 CHAMPIONS Div 2 1987-88 Promoted to Div 1 Static in Div 1 until 1992-93 Relegated back to Div 2 CHAMPIONS Div 2 1995-96 Promoted back up to Div 1 Static in Div 1 until 1999-00 Promoted pro rata to PREM DIV 2000-01 Relegated back to Div 1 Static in Div 1 until 2006-07 Runners-up and promoted to PREM 2011-12 Relegated back to Div 1 2013-14 Promoted to PREM to current
