Baston Athletic FC

Formed at the beginning of the 2009/10 season by Phil Davies and Tony Bedford originally as a reserve side to Baston FC (see www.teamstats.net/bastonfc), managed by Sam Spry. The 09/10 season was found to be quite a turbulent one off the field with a number of changes in management - Spry, Burton, Stoker, and Burton again all having time as the gaffer. This inconsistency resulted in a number of poor performances and the side finishing bottom of the GDFL Div 1 table. That said the 1st team had their most successful season and it can be considered that the reserve team played their part in that. The close season in 2010 saw the reserves split from the first team and a name change to Baston Athletic. 10/11 season found more consistency off the field with Burton in charge until work commitments meant another change in management. Gavin Coshell joined midway through the 10/11 season and with his pedigree (formally of Manton F.C / Oakham Imps as both player and succesfull team manager) brought a much more disciplined and structured approach which transposed into improvements on the field. The 11/12 season has much promise with Coshell at the helm and the two clubs rejoining forces instigated by Davies, Coshell and Burton, forming a merged committee. The future looks bright for football in Baston and for Baston Athletic. The club hope to achieve the FA chartered standard award during the 11/12 season.
