Worthing Dynamo U13 Black travelled to Chichester High School on the morning of 12 April 2026 to face Chichester City Youth U13 Green in a competitive 11-a-side friendly. Kick-off was at 10:00am, with the match lasting 70 minutes plus added time. Despite a spirited performance, Worthing Dynamo U13 Black were edged out 3-2 by their hosts in a closely contested encounter.
Worthing Dynamo set up in a 3-1-4-2 formation, aiming to balance defensive solidity with attacking flair. Archie Parker-Muckle took his place between the sticks as goalkeeper, protected by a back three consisting of Ellis Williams at right defender, Harrison Flanagan centrally, and Bailey Freshwater on the left. Toby Killick operated as the lone central midfielder, tasked with linking defence and attack. Ahead of him, four attacking midfielders were deployed: Teddy Gill on the right, Leo Whyatt and Isaish Hatton centrally, and Finley Stevens on the left. Up front, Lewis Langdell played as the right forward with Ethan Whattingham on the left, expected to spearhead the attack and convert chances. Louie Papouis was named as the substitute.
The match began with Chichester City Youth asserting early pressure, and it was no surprise when they opened the scoring in the 15th minute. Worthing Dynamo’s defence was breached as the opponents found the net to take an early lead. Just two minutes later, Worthing made their first substitution, with Louie Papouis replacing Ellis Williams meaning Toby Killick dropping to right defender, signalling a tactical tweak to shore up the backline.
Shortly after, at the 20-minute mark, Ellis Williams returned to the pitch, this time Toby Killick went back in to midfield. This was followed by another change in the 26th minute when Isaish Hatton came back on, this time taking the place of Finley Stevens on the left attacking midfield. These early substitutions suggested Worthing Dynamo were searching for the right balance in midfield and attack to respond to Chichester’s early dominance.
The first half concluded at the 35-minute mark with Chichester City Youth maintaining their advantage.
Half time came and Toby Killick drop in to goal allowing Archie Parker-Muckle to move into a midfield role
However, the visitors were dealt another blow five minutes later when the hosts doubled their lead in the 40th minute, extending their advantage to 2-0.
In the 42nd minute, Finley Stevens was reintroduced to the match, replacing Louie Papouis. This change appeared to invigorate the side as Lewis Langdell pulled a goal back for Worthing Dynamo in the 44th minute, reducing the deficit to 2-1 and reigniting hope for a comeback.
Chichester City Youth restored their two-goal cushion early in the second half, scoring again in the 49th minute to make it 3-1. Worthing Dynamo, however, refused to surrender and fought back with determination. Isaish Hatton found the net in the 61st minute, bringing the scoreline to 3-2 and setting up a tense final 10 minutes.
Shortly after Hatton’s goal, Worthing made their final substitution at the 62nd minute, with Louie Papouis returning to the field in place of Teddy Gill. This change aimed to inject fresh energy into the midfield as Worthing pushed for an equaliser.
Despite their best efforts, Worthing Dynamo U13 Black were unable to find a third goal, and the match ended 3-2 in favour of Chichester City Youth U13 Green. The game was a hard-fought contest, with both sides showing attacking intent and tactical flexibility, but ultimately the hosts edged out the visitors on their home turf.
