FC Strikerz Laserz 1 vs 2 Winstanley Warriors City F

After a strong pre-season today was the first league match against a Strikerz team who beat us 5-1 last year.

Due to many different reasons, we were left with only 11 players in terrible conditions facing a team who had 3 subs.

An even match at the start with the boys battling well and we created several opportunities with Dylan and Joe leading the line with good movement. We just couldn’t get a goal against a decent keeper. Tackle of the match just before half time with Jack Cunliffe sliding in to save a certain goal.

Going uphill 2nd half, and no subs, we thought we might be up against it. In the 45th minute Matty Makin played a high ball through to Dylan who took it down well, got a rebound off the keeper and finished into an empty net (1-0)

Shortly after, Luke Bird passed it through to Matty who dribbled from right corner of the box and powered it into the corner. (2-0)

It could have been more as we controlled the game but then Michael Glynn was called into action with a great point blank save. Then Strikerz scored when their forward ran unchallenged through the middle of our defence and lifted it over Michael Glynn just crossing the line before Jack C could clear (2-1).

Still time for Barno to get booked and a turned down penalty appeal for Strikerz and we held on for a deserved 2-1 win.

Man of Match was given to the whole team for the great shift over the 80 mins.
