The Saints pulled off one of the Northern Alliance's greatest cup shocks as they overcame the current Premier Division leaders Newcastle Blue Star on a memorable day at the Rising Sun Sports Ground.
The visitors had won all 8 of their league games heading into the game and were well fancied to make it 9 against a Quay side two league below them and without a win in 3 games.
Willington have always enjoyed the magic of the cup and they took a shock lead on fifteen minutes with a goal from Joe Connor
Blue Star had two good chances to level but Josh Scott couldn't find a way past Saints keeper Ellis Burns who kept the score 1-0 at the break.
10 minutes after half time Ryan Mcgorrigan doubled the lead for the Quay as he rose highest to head home a Luke Taylor free kick
Connor grabbed his second goal and the Saints third from the penalty spot after he was brought down in the area with 10 minutes remaining.
Blue Star grabbed a lifeline back into the game when Josh Scott scored from the spot with 8 minutes to go but the Quay saw out the remaining minutes to seal one of the best wins in their 19 year history.
