The Foresters started quickly and moved the ball well in the early minutes of the match looking comfortable in possession and strong defensively.
On 5 minutes a well struck cross from Benton found the Athletic box, after several failed clearances the ball sat nicely on the edge of the area for Messina , whose fine right foot strike found the back of the Athletic net sending Foresters into an early 1-0 lead.
The Foresters continued to contain and outplay the opposition and created several more good half chances before going further ahead on 20 minutes, when a well struck Anderberg free kick found Credland who converted from close range to send Foresters into a well deserved 2-0 lead.
Heading towards half time some good work involving Horlock and Pickett found Abbott’s well timed run, Abbot converting his opportunity confidently to send the Foresters 3-0 up.
The second half was fairly even and despite a more determined effort from Athletic the Foresters controlled the game to seal the win and book their place in the Tandridge League cup final.
