After 17 months without competitive football, Tolbooth finally returned to action with a tricky away day at The Haughs vs Turriff Thistle.

Despite a bit of scrappy first half, it was Tolbooth who created the more clear cut chances almost taking the lead midway through the half. Sean Keith who was a constant threat down the Tbooth left got beyond the full back & when his cross was helped on by Shand, Buchan arrived at the back post only to his close range strike superbly kept out by the home goalkeeper. On 35 minutes the task was away to get alot harder for the away side when striker Shand was shown a straight red. Score at half time - 0-0.

Into the second half, Tolbooth continued to threaten despite being down to 10 men & took the lead when Liam Grant teed up Conor Dickie who's strike from distance slipped through the legs of the Turriff goalkeeper. The home side responded & went in hunt of the equaliser but were denied one on one by a fine Chapman stop. Soon after Tolbooth were 2 goals clear when Sean Keith's free kick was too hot to handle & Liam Paterson pounced on the rebound to fire home in crowed 6 yard box. A nervy finish was set up when Turriff Thistle pulled a goal back from the penalty spot after a dubious handball decision. But Tolbooth held on to secure a deserved 3 points & get the 2021/22 campaign off to a brilliant start in a well contested game ?????
