An already tough fixture was dealt a huge blow by numerous injuries, suspensions, unknown absences, no shows (its ok though because Tap comes from leeds which we all know is notoriously difficult to get to Halifax from) meant a depleted side took to the Snake Pit. With 11 players and no subs & spear headed by a leading line of the workhorse Jan, the lamehorse Josh & the fathorse Henshaw a win was very much in doubt. Hall’s fortunes took a nose dive when in the 8th minute Stefan “injured” his back even though at training on Tuesday he looked fine which meant Hall went down to 10 men early on.

In the 11th minute Waiters took advantage of the numerical advantage going 1-0 up. Hall were valiant in their efforts but Waiters again pounced and doubled their lead, swiftly followed by a third.

Half time arrived after what felt like 4646585 hours. It was at this point Rick pretends he doesn’t fancy hembers sister Needham inexplicably wandered off, got in his car and disappeared. Fortunately a passer-by put a shirt on and replaced rick.

3 minutes into the second half Waiters scored again. It basically finished 8-0 but im not typing individual goals out because its depressing.

To make matters worse, soggy seat Miles kept lying down and had to come off meaning Hall had to play the remainder of the game with 9 men. Well 9 and josh and Henshaw. So 7 and a half. Despite the difficulties Hall can be proud of their performance especially Aaron who pulled off some strong saves to keep the score line to single figures.

Halls only moment near goal was when the visiting keeper who looked a bit special needsy raced out and kicked the ball at Henshaw from point blank range and the ball went slightly towards the goal however this was adjudged to be a shot and a missed own goal (which it wasn’t as there was no way I could have scored when it was booted at my foot and I was 25 yards out and it just bounced away….not that I am bitter about getting DOTD). Anyway I digress.

In summary we lost. But could have been worse. Could have been better too but what can you do.

Hopefully the rest of the squad sort their dull miserable lives out and get themselves available for this Sunday as I don’t want to do 90 minutes ever again.

P.S In all seriousness we have a top set of lads and tapend and we can achieve something decent this season so lets put these past couple of weeks behind us and slither on.
