Gregorians 4 vs 3 Stepping Hill Veterans Pre

At home this team gave us a spanking. On a muddy pitch things were somewhat equalised, but the first half still saw them able to pass well and two goals were scored as a result. A response at 30 minutes came from an awesome Ellison header. 2-1 at half time and the second half started badly with poor marking allowing a welll taken goal from a cross. But dogged resistance and the willingness of Wilby and Ellison to chase lost causes kept Gregorians on their toes. A Google free kick hit hard at the keeper was spilled and Ellison followed in for number two and then pressure caused a Gregs defender to slice into his own net. 3-3- with ten to go, and for the graft a point would have been a just reward, but unfortunately neither Dave Royle, until then flawless, nor two defenders on the line could keep out a floated header. Hearbreak, but much to take away. Its been a tough season, we're scoring. We've been ahead at half time in every match this year bar the two matches against Gregs. Second halves have been maybe a fitness or concentration thing, but todays second half was excellent.
