Stafford Town kicked off in their local Derby at League leaders Lichfield who had won 8 and drawn 2 of their last 10 games. Town were boosted by their win in Tuesday evening's match at Old rivals Brocton. After an even opening the home side took the lead in the 12th minute when former Stafford Rangers player Peter Till scored with a low shot past Joe Morris in the Town goal.

Both side tried to play good football with the heavy rain and wind gusting around the ground and although the home side created more chances the visitors defended well and the game reached half time without further goals.

Matt Dean replaced the injured Will Reid and Dean's attacks down the right wing caused the home side problems. Dean was brought down in the penalty area by a clumsy challenge but neither the Referee or his Assistant thought it was a penalty one of several strange decisions by the officials. Attacking substitutes Oliver Jarvis and Ryan Bradshaw were brought on to try and score an equaliser but there were no further goals and Lichfield City remained top of the League.

A frustrating defeat but a long way from the 0-4 Vase defeat five weeks back.

You can find the highlights here thanks to Lichfield City Super Fan Brooksy. A thoroughly pleasant chap and great supporter of midlands non league football.
