SFA lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, deploying Victor Abikoye in goal. The defensive line featured Emmanuel Osunleke at right back, David Jay-Jay and Elkanah Ayuba as central defenders, and Toki Tundealao on the left. In midfield, Jimoh Ibrahim and Afolabi Akangbe operated as the two holding central midfielders, tasked with both defensive cover and initiating attacks. Ahead of them, Adewole Samad took up the right attacking midfield role, MichaelKing Oyeyemi played centrally behind the striker, and Richard Adetunji occupied the left attacking midfield position. Leading the line was Akorede Obatuyi as the lone striker, expected to spearhead the attack and convert chances. The substitutes named were Obinna Kingsley and Siyanbade Adedamola.
The match began with SFA showing intent to control possession and press high. However, an early setback arrived in the 30th minute when David Jay-Jay was forced off due to injury, with Obinna Kingsley coming on to fill the defensive gap. Both teams battled hard through the first half, which ended goalless at the interval.
Shortly after the restart, SFA broke the deadlock in the 52nd minute. Jimoh Ibrahim delivered a precise assist to Akorede Obatuyi, who finished clinically to give the hosts the lead. The goal lifted SFA’s spirits and they continued to press for a second.
At the hour mark, a tactical substitution saw Siyanbade Adedamola replace right back Emmanuel Osunleke, aiming to inject fresh energy and maintain defensive solidity. The game intensified as USFC responded with increased urgency.
USFC managed to equalise in the 71st minute, capitalising on a momentary lapse in SFA’s defence to level the score at 1-1. However, SFA’s resilience shone through immediately after. Jimoh Ibrahim stepped up to take a direct free-kick and expertly curled the ball into the net, restoring SFA’s lead within the same minute.
The remainder of the match saw SFA hold firm to their advantage, with goalkeeper Victor Abikoye making crucial saves to deny USFC any further opportunities. The final whistle confirmed a hard-fought 2-1 victory for Soccer For All.
Jimoh Ibrahim was deservedly named Player of the Match for his influential role in midfield, providing both the assist and a spectacular free-kick goal that proved decisive. This friendly win will surely boost SFA’s confidence as they prepare for upcoming fixtures.
